Halton & St Helens VCA are delighted to announce that our bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund (to cover the costs of redeveloping St Marie’s Church in Widnes) has been accepted.
Our staff team has worked tirelessly to make this happen and we are very grateful for the support we have received from our colleagues at Morbaine Ltd, Pulse Regeneration and Halton Borough Council.
Special thanks must go to all the local residents who completed surveys and offered their support.
It has always been our goal to restore St Marie’s Church to how it looked in its glorious heyday and to once again make it a hub of community activity.
We will now begin the work of breathing new life into this beautiful old building and we hope that by the New Year of 2014, we’ll be in position to open the doors on a magnificent heritage centre which will make the local community proud.
Many thanks,
Matthew Roberts
This is brilliant, would love to learn more and get involved, and possibly use this in my university work
Hi Liam. Thanks for getting in touch. We’re going to get a team of volunteers together to plan the heritage displays inside St Marie’s. If you’d like to be one of them, that would be brilliant! Good luck with your university work. Matthew
Brilliant news! so much of the heritage and history in the form of buildings has been lost over the course of the last fifty years…..thankfully this ‘architectural treasure’ isn’t going to be one of them!
Thanks Beverley. I agree entirely with you. I hope that we can deliver a heritage project that makes you proud! Thanks, Matthew
